Information requirements:

Finance:

• Country-
  • GNP
  • Average income
  • Wealth distribution
• Non-state actor-
  • How much money is coming in?
  • Where does the money come from?
  • How much money is going out?
  • How much money are they holding?
  • Are members paid?

Network Analysis:

• Ethnicity (Country and NSA)
  • How large is the ethnic group? (% of pop.)
• Tribal
  • How large is the tribal community? (% of pop)
• Relationships
  • Collaboration (other actors with common goal)
  • Contacts in government
  • Business relationships

Ideology (Islam, Marxist-Leninist, Capitalism-Democracy, etc):

• What type of ideology does the NSA subscribe to and/or propagate?
• What type of ideology is predominate in the country?

Membership

• How many people belong to the NSA (employees, volunteers, "true believers")
• % of population

Functional Roles:

• Does the NSA provide some sort of social service?
• Does the NSA provide some sort of function that serves the interest of other players?
